special services, festivals, concerts - click here for full details

At St Nicholas Church we offer distinct styles of worship on a Sunday. Some people come to more than one, so please feel free to see which you may feel more at home with.

8:00am Holy Communion Traditional Service

Each week a service of Holy Communion from the Book of Common Prayer (1662), this is a said service with no music. An ideal start to a Sunday for those seeking a peaceful and quiet setting.

9:30am ‘The Gathering’ Contemporary Service

This is a relaxed form of weekly worship in a contemporary style. The musicians help to lead this worship, which is short in length at 45 minutes. There are children’s groups during the service - Bubbles for under 5’s, Splash for 5-8’s, Stream for 8-11’s and The Grid for 11-14’s. ‘The Gathering’ is an informal time for all ages together and we don't mind children moving around. It's followed by freshly percolated coffee and biscuits.

11:00am Choral Services

The services are supported by the lovely choir and excellent organist. The choral services include Sung Eucharist, Morning Prayer and Service of the Word; please check the online calendar or church magazine for more details. Refreshments are served before the 11am services, arrive early to grab a lovely coffee and tasty croissant.

6:30pm Reflective Service

The evening services are a gentle way to worship in a peaceful and reflective way. There are a breadth of services including Celtic, Taize, Evening Worship and Holy Communion. Please check the online calendar for more information.
