Curious About Faith?
Join a series of group conversations that freely explore the basics of the Christian faith in an open, friendly environment. At each Alpha session you’ll start with a short video on a different question of faith – then you have a chance to share your thoughts and hear what others think. You can say anything you like, or nothing at all.
Everyone’s welcome. You’re invited, no matter your background or beliefs. It’s free and there’s no pressure to come back.
Who is Alpha for?
Alpha is for everyone; whether you have been coming to church for many years or don’t come at all; no question is out of bounds and you are free to discuss as much or as little as you wish. You may want to refresh your understanding of Christianity or you may want to find out about it for the first time. We don’t assume any background knowledge of or belief in Christianity and everyone is welcome.
What is Alpha?
Alpha is an opportunity to explore the meaning of life in an informal and friendly environment. The Alpha course consists of a series of talks, looking at topics including 'Who is Jesus?' and 'Why and how do I pray?'. We will meet to enjoy cake or puddings together with barista beverages each time in the café, with each talk is followed by discussion in small groups. There is also a one day away together locally.
When and where is Alpha happening?
Our 2025 course will start on Thursday the 25th of September at 7.30pm. The course is 8 weekly sessions, with a break for half-term, plus a special local Away Day on Saturday the 8th of November.
Sessions will be held at The Well, Ingoldisthorpe Church Hall, Hill Road, PE31 6NZ. See The Well website for directions athewell.org.uk

What local people have said about Alpha:
“I entered retirement and finally had time to reflect on questions I’d been too busy for before; I feel I’ve been given a second chance and really want to make my retirement count.”
“It gave me the opportunity to ask the questions that I had never had the courage to ask and to be able to think through things about Christianity afresh.”
